Passionaria, combative, exotic, the dove, Frida Kahlo and her art have suffered intense and vibrant with passion.

At first it was an accident. Between the bus on which she was returning home and a tram. Suspended between life and death, Frida Kahlo, there was an earlier, when he thought he would become a doctor, and after, when fate forced her to become one of the most gifted painters of the '900 and intense.

The life of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo is conflict, strength, courage, physical and emotional before. And in the tangle symbiotic alloy body and soul, created a painting that seems to bleed and scream the need for a peace that never comes.

Born in a suburb of Mexico City, fell ill with polio as a child and began his long battle with illness. Brilliant student decides to become a doctor and attended the Escuela Nacional Preparatory. On 17 September 1925 returning home, the bus they were traveling collided with a tram. And in danger of dying during the month in the hospital began to paint. At the end of the '20s knows that Diego Rivera will be rooting for him all my life (I married twice) despite betrayal, departures, separations. The great painter's desire for motherhood will remain throughout the life frustrated by the poor health of the woman who was repeatedly forced to have abortions. E 'in 1938 his first solo exhibition at the Julien Levy Gallery in New York. In those years know Leon Trotsky, and many French surrealists such as Andre Breton. In 1946 the Ministry of Education receives national award for his painting of Moses painting, but after yet another surgery on the spine is confined to a wheelchair. Despite the pain and medication, Frida continued to paint and was organized in 1953 the first solo exhibition in Mexico at the opening of which the artist will take part remained lying on a bed. He died July 13, 1954 in his beloved "blue house".

"I do not know what to find in my paintings," asks a young Frida Kahlo that does not have enough awareness of their talent or that he lives so intensely painting and the art of not caring at all to have a public admiration. Pasionaria, combative, exotic, Frida Kahlo, the dove is one of the most authentic interpreters of that particular art form which is the Mexican, but through a language that is not based only on tradition and popular painting of the former vote, but re-visits everyday life and turn it into a symbol.

His painting is never sealed and incomprehensible as that of some European Surrealism, but this movement has the same suspended atmospheres, the representations of objects out of place, the lawlessness in the laws of perspective, the psychological suggestion.

In the numerous portraits of Frida wooden leg - she loved to dress in the typical costume of the women of Tehuantepec - multiplies itself endlessly, as if to prevent the boredom of routine or to construct an identity that feels slippery, ambiguous, problematic.

If the first works (think of the bus of 1929) show the influence of her lover and then husband Diego Rivera (painting with characters and tackles tough social issues), in the paintings of maturity (to name just a few titles: bed wheel - 1932, What I saw in the water - 1938, I and my parrots - 1941, Moses - 1945) the representation of emotional states is more intense and raw, shocking, according to many "gringos" Frida Kahlo show that Western his works.

Too intellectual, too cerebral, too restrained for a woman of the south, a creature of earth and blood, that excess, to the torment and the pathos without inhibition, had devoted his existence.
