PINKO chooses the designs by Cristian Grossi

The Ariel capsule collection is a sample of five scarves created by Italian designer Cristian Grossi, from a set of prints that mix retro decor, psychedelic colours and fairy-tale themes. These artworks - each printed on a square metre of pure cotton, just like real illustrations - embellish clothing, accessories and even display walls: they represent Italy in the exhibition GO FIGURE: New Fashion Illustration from May 11 to July 14, 2012, at the London College of Fashion.

Go Figure: New Fashion Illustration is part of a major series of exhibitions dedicated to the many artistic disciplines that revolve around fashion and its influences. Set up in a special gallery, the Fashion Space Gallery inner the LCF, it will feature the works of talented artists that stand out in these areas. The projects on display are more than sixty, and the authors are thirteen fashion illustrator working with many different media. From classic to digital design, ranging from fashion design and graphic design to photography and video experiments. Cristian Grossi offers several multimedia works: from the Insekta tables depicting beautiful and gruesome women-insect, hybrids with zoomorphic and anthropomorphic characteristics, to illustrated micro-animation shows (inspired by the video art of Bill Viola), beside the aforementioned scarves made for PINKO, which will be displayed as real works of art. Go Figure: New Fashion Illustration is curated by Ligaya Salazar, curator of Contemporary Programmes for the Victoria and Albert Museum and Polona Dolžan, independent curator. Cristian Grossi, advertising and fashion designer, is among the founders of the creative studio Kreativehouse. He works with different ways of expression, starting from Indian ink drawing to digital working. His images are highly inspired by Beardseley and Erté's graphic works, by Galileo Chini's Art Nouveau frescoes, by minimalism and an imaginary strongly linked to his childhood.
