Installation joyful and unpredictable: This is the art of Bellini Giuliana (Castel d'Ario, MN, 1950). The interview. IConclusi studies as a potter in the early 70s, Julian graduated at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera twice, in '86 in painting and graphics in 2006 and has taught printmaking techniques at the CFP of the City of Milan . Numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
Your artistic journey is very rich, from sculpture to graphics, but your reputation is tied to particular installations. Do you want to describe some of your work?
Describe my work is not easy, the main effort is to communicate through images. If you need too many words to describe what I do then the result is not what I wanted to achieve, does not work, it lacks synthesis, cleaning. My search still continues for many years around the theme of life, starting from the cell realized two-dimensional paintings in oil, wax, glue colored with pigments, various techniques and materials, then spent a three-dimensional shapes that I called "seed" or "germination". This series is part of the work presented in 1995 in Pisa in the Field of Miracles Gallery, where he took charge a room with water, the walls of the semi-spheres (as if they were emerging from the walls and then fell into the water to germinate on stems, pink-stained). Or in 1993 to Procida outside a converted church realized installation in the shape of a spiral with 40 elements in iron, on top of the spherical shape moving with the wind, as if they were flowers.
From where to perform the installations?
For me it is very important place, in the case of an open area of my speech will be included as elements of nature. It 's the case of "Small Forest", a work of 2004 included in the park of Villa Braila in Lodi. Here I used the iron rods with 4 meters high, on top, like a leaf in copper ... Or in an enclosed space like Torre Strozzi (Perugia), on the fourth floor of the tower, I made an 'invasion' in 2001, using 400 white balloons, inflated and attached to the floor and walls, with a central ball of one meter in diameter, a sort of mother with cubs. Since the square space, with openings on all four sides, was subject to continuous current of air, the balloons blowing in the wind every now and then descended to the lower floors, creating a veritable invasion. A Los Castillos Ters Reyes del Morro in Havana in 1998, in a tunnel 75 meters long, I inserted a number of tentacles lined with polyethylene net hot zone, arranged along the walls of the left. In this case I thought of a way of life that ran through the density of the wall.
Have you ever had to make a theme of the works?
Yes, in one case for example I had to work on the "meaning" and work "Sensualidad" that I presented in Spain at the Feria de Arte de Monzon in 2005, Gheroartè Corsico, Milan, Perugia and Enna, I used 24 sheets silk, colored red, orange, yellow, hanging from the center of the room so they could move to any movement of air and the smell of the wood I put chocolate on the edges of the sheets. The first impact as people had the color and then the smell and then the physical contact, all in silence.
Where can we see your work?
Currently there are my work in the garden of the training center in Via Pepe 40 in Milan, where I set up a working iron and copper. Also in Milan, in Via Pepe 16, I made a work of decorative mosaic 530 x 300 cm on the wave. In 2011 I will be attending with 2 Graphic Biennial in Varna Bulgaria, which will open May 23.
